Born, raised, educated, and married in Punta Gorda, Bruce Laishley has been part of the fabric of the city, harbor, and region for decades.
While still in high school, he started his own company (an automotive store) and grew into his parents’ businesses of garden centers and landscaping.
In 1991, he and Rick Treworgy formed Southwest Land Developers, Inc. and designed and built Charlotte County’s recycling facility and landfill.
From his passion for boating came Laishley Marine and a series of major harborside developments, including a world-class marina, and a chain of unique, individually branded restaurants under the Smuggler’s Enterprises umbrella.
Recent major projects include the 375-acre industrial park and enterprise district in Punta Gorda and a regional distribution center for Cheney Brothers, Inc.
